TTRA tries its best to support TRA Research fliers. Typically there are 4 Research launches each year, usually March, June, September and December. These launches are held the Sunday after the regular Saturday launch. Watch the web site for announcements for the next research day.
TRA Research launches have a special safety code and more restrictions then a regular launch. As a flier what concerns you the most is the following:
- All flier must be a member of Tripoli. Unfortunately NAR members or the general public can not fly on research days
- All fliers must be 18 or older
- To fly a research motor you must be Level 2 or 3.
- Level 0 - 3 can fly commercial certified motors
- For research motors the flight must not exceed 75% of the waiver, 8000' in our case
- Spectators are welcome, but spectators under the age of 18 are discouraged due to the nature of the activities
