Volunteers PDF Print E-mail

TTRA has several positions that are important to the successful operation of our launch events. These positions are filled by a few volunteer members who donate their time in order to insure everyone else has a safe and enjoyable day at the field. With the large numbers of folks attending the launches, sometimes these same few people seem to get locked into these duties most of the time.

In order to aviod total "burn-out", and to allow these members more time to fly their own rockets, we would appreciate more people stepping up and helping out. You can look over the list of duties and sign up here.

Mr. Varn has Past PDF Print E-mail

I am sadden to inform everyone that Mr. Varn has past away.  He died at home on Sunday, Oct.14th.  Mr. Varn was a great friend of TTRA.  He was willing to let a bunch of "crazy" rocket people use his property to fly rockets.  His faith in us can never be fully appreciated.

Mr. Varn also loved to watch the rockets fly.  He always wanted to see the "big one" fly.  Back in the early days of TTRA flying at the Varn Ranch Mr. Varn was out watching every month.  I think his health prevented him from coming out more over that last year or two.

The obituary can be read here:

TTRA has acquired a new launch-pad for Level-3 Rockets.  The pad can support 1515 and Uni-strut rail guides and and has 16' of rail.  We can now support rockets in the 100+ lb range.  Please note that this pad can support rocket and motor combinations that exceed the TTRA and FAA safe distance require for the field.  TTRA policy is still that L and above flights require RSO approval, so if you are planning to fly something in that range (especially if it's pushing the  envelope) it is best to contact a us before the launch.

The photo section of the has not seen a lot of action for a while. There are a lot of people out there taking pictures and it would be great if some of those pictures could be shared on the site. If you have pictures of the TTRA launches taken over the past year and would like to share them, just send and email to the Prefect and we can workout the best way to get the photos uploaded.

Videos are also welcome. I will be combing YouTube for TTRA videos that can be added to the site. Again if you have some video of TTRA launches send an email to the Prefect and we will work something out.
